Battle of Mice are an alleged "supergroup" consisting of Julie Christmas of Made Out of Babies, Josh Graham of Neurosis, two members of Book of Knots and Joe Tomino of Dub Trio. The album is largely about Christmas' and Graham's relationship which started out hateful, they then fell in love then back to hate. It's easy to see the bitter emotions behind the record and Christmas' vocal performance is easily one of the best put to plastic.

If you've ever wondered where all the talent behind used-to-be tech metallers The End (before they started covering Silverstein songs and changing the titles and notes), you've come to the right place. Ex-The End vocalist's newest (but now defunct, already) leans farther from his tech metal roots into the doom metal genre, except with various clean pretty parts amongst the crushing riffage. I had such a fucking hard time trying to find this album, I decided I'd share it to save you many hours (or minutes) of frustration. The Holy Mountain were an awesome hardcore punk band from Florida, they play a more melodic hardcore while retaining the raw anger and passion as the bands they worship, such as Anti-Cimex, Disfear and Crass. Their name either comes from the 1973 film by Alejandro Jodorowsky or the 1992 album by Sleep. Both fine choices. Go fucking circle pit.

If you don't already know (which you should), His Hero Is Gone was a crust band from Memphis, Tennessee. Their style was a combination of pissed as fuck hardcore punk and down-tuned sludge. Three members went on to form Tragedy but, in my opinion, they don't come close to matching the ferocity of His Hero Is Gone. Love it or get out.
